Check out the Gap. It has been down for over a week while under construction. It’s using a nice redirection trick to another website. Remember back in the internet days when having an online presence is the “you can’t miss proposition.” If you are in retail, I wonder if having an online store is worth the trouble. I hear the online revenue for retail stores such as the Gap and Old Navy only accounts to about 3% of the total revenue. I wonder what the IT budget was in creating this online presence. Maybe, there are some things not worth chasing.
