I recently installed an evaluation program on my computer. I’m not going to mention the name of the software here since I don’t want to give it anymore publicity that it already has from the adoring public. I decided the program wasn’t to my liking, so I uninstalled it.
If you ever wondered why my other website is slow all of the sudden. Well, it was the Weather box. It behaved badly today, although the weather data collected was still accurate. The response was painfully slow. I noticed the slow response this morning, so I did some investigative work. At first, I thought it was the load on the server since I recently installed a couple of big MySQL databases.
Well, that wasn’t the case because other applications using the same database are working normally. I started turning off all other blocks on my front page and found the culprit after a couple of tries. I still don’t know what’s causing the delay. Maybe, they are doing some monthly maintenance work.
In addition, my other syndicated links from Yahoo, BBC and a couple of other sites have been behaving weird also today. So, who knows what’s going on their side of the world. I’ll just monitor the site’s response the next couple of days. Hehe.. not my fault.
I just recently modified this website by adding several syndicated news blocks. Notice, they border both sides of this page. These blocks showcase web technology in terms of disseminating news and information. Many portals and news agencies nowadays provide RSS or Really Simple Syndication files for free.
Have you noticed? There’s a new module I just installed. It’s the Genealogy module. Check it out. The program is now integrated into my PHP-Nuke powered website. Applause! Thank you. It took a couple of days of tweaking codes and configurations, but it’s finally working. I just fixed the last problem with my Home Page link.
Are you tired of typing out long and wordy directories in Linux? Linux links can simplify your life by taking advantage of the ls command. You can make two types of links, a hardlink vs. a softlink. Softlinks are more common due to its flexibility.
To create a softlink, you need to issue the “ln -s filename linkname” command at the shell prompt.
To remove the softlink, simply issue the “rm linkname” command.
