Hello
How can replace the old black-lettehead theme in my blog
thanks
You can’t replace it since your blog is hosted at WordPress.com. If your blog is self-hosted or with a hosting company, then you have a lot more freedom to edit or use any theme you like.
yo ulyssesr can you maybe add the theme tool kit to this 1 too ? or can you maybe tell me how to add it myself please
Frank, I discussed this in my Theme Support Forum. You can check the solution there. Here’s the link. Theme Toolkit
which files are changed ?
can i upload just these changed files or do I need to upload all the files and make all the changes i made again?
Ramon,
The changes were made in sidebar.php and style.css. Check if the your blog displays incorrectly the footer section in IE browser. If not, then you may be unaffected by this update.
Uly, I checked my blog in Firefox, Internet Explorer 7 and 6 and it looks the same in each browser, just like on your blog.
I think I skip this update, and perform a upgrade as soon as 1.7 is released.
Hi, great job, is a good theme, but nested comments dont work, is a nice upgrade for this theme.
Thanks and sorry my bad english
Jago, you need to enable comments to see the nested comments. Go to the Dashboard and select Settings – Discussions and enable nested comments.
Hi ulyssersr.. i really like your theme, but i have a question, is there any way to change the style so when the blog loads the theme shows its wide version instead of the narrow one???
thanks.. i really apreciate any help
Yes, you can check the alternate stylesheets that came with the theme and apply the wide entries to style.css so it will be permanent.
ahhh.. i forgot.. why the tag does not work on the theme?
i meant this one http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_hr.asp (sorry for the three coments)
Hmmm, HTML tags should work within WordPress posts.
hi.. thanks for the help with the style.css
now, i also thought that all html tags should work with the wordpress posts or pages but that tag does not work, and i have no idea why, it would be nice if you could help me with it.. thanks
New to wordpress, I used your black letterhead template 2 days ago- looked great. Went to site this morning- gone. Have you had other people have this problem with WordPress? I see that you’ve had several updates to your css, so I figure the bug more than likely isn’t in your scripting…?
SMG,
The Blackletterhead theme being used by WordPress.com is based on the older Blackletterhead 1.3 theme. WordPress.com is the keeper of the Blackletterhead theme at their site. I just checked your site. It’s still there. It must have been a glitch at WordPress.com.
I like this theme very much. currently have it installed on 2 blogs.
Very nice Theme!
But – how can I remove the “Preferences” and the text fom the header?
Best regards,
Christoph
I really like the improvements to the theme. I was rocking 1.0 for too long, 1.6 is quite nice! Thanks for your efforts and talents.
Hi ulyssersr,
I just found your theme and downloaded it. I’ll be using it on the next blog that I build. Thanks for designing it and allowing us to use it.
nice theme, I prefer this 1.6 than the 1.0, but still both of them pretty nice. Thanks.
Hello,
Love the theme!
I have yet to update a theme before now (newbie), and I have a question.
I have been using ver. 1.5. When I upgrade to 1.6 do I need to redo all of the changes I have made to the theme. Or, do I just just disable plug-ins, download the new theme and put the older theme files back in the theme folder?
When I started with ver. 1.5 I took out the comments; which I am now regretting. That is why I want to update to ver. 1.6
Thank you and take care.
Trend,
If you upgrade to 1.6, your previous changes will be lost. If you made just a few changes, then you can just re-apply those changes to version 1.6.
I can’t for the life of me figure out how to move categories & tags to the bottom of my blog posts. Is there a way to do this? I have it that way on my other blog with wordpress.
Hi Juli,
If your blog is at wordpress.com, you can’t make code changes to the theme, but if you’re self hosted somewhere, you can edit the theme files and place tag and categories anywhere on your blog post. That’s the advantage of self hosting as oppose to running a blog at wordpress.com. You have a bit more flexibility.
Could you tell me how to modify the header in v 1.6 so that it is solid black (like in v 1.5) rather than the red/black gradient.
And thanks for your great design!!
Hi Nathan,
Just remove the header image under the `images` folder. That should remove the sample header image being displayed in the header section.
Hey!
I was wondering if this 1.6.1 version is compatible with the soon to be released WordPress 2.8 version.
Or will you release a new theme version?
Kind regards
Ramon, It’s compatible. No theme changes.
Just checked the template for the first time. Cool stuff, finally something that suits my taste
Hello,
i want to use a fulscreen background image in this theme. what and where is in the css.style file to do? sorry for my bad english, thx and greetings from germany
Rainer,
You can make the the body or the #page id full screen. Then you can add a background image to it via CSS.
hmm.. I’m a Newbie, what is to do in the css file?
You can place a background image on the body like this:
body {background-image: url(‘yourimage.jpg’);}
You can learn more about CSS from W3C School.
http://www.w3schools.com/css/
Many THX for your Help and yor great Template, it WORKS
Greetings,
Rainer
I really like the theme, but I think it has too much space between the letters in the titles (both the main title and the subtitle). How do I change that? In the CSS file somewhere?
Look for #header and .description.
Hi THere – I’m working on my new blog (not public yet) and using your theme. I have the CSS Upgrade. Is there anyway to make it THREE columns? Please help. Thanx
Jill, it is possible, but you have to make CSS changes as well as edit theme files for adding a second sidebar div. This is something WordPress.com will not allow you.
Hi,
I am in Singapore now, for a while… and I often check my blog using my phone. I noticed its extremely slow to load this template.
I found some mobile friendly template that is used when someone visits my site on his phone.
Is it possible for you to create on? I know it’s kinda easy for me to ask… but it would be awesome if this theme is mobile friendly and only 1 theme needs to be used.
Kind regards!
Ramon, Alex King has a plugin called WordPress Mobile Edition. The plugin detects if you’re using a phone browser and properly displays it properly. You might want to look into that. I’ve used the plugin before.
I am using wordpress.com theme and i have for a while but for some reason my page looks a lot different…. Like the black box down the center is gone…. idk how to explain it. When i thought it was a glitch i looked at a few others useing the theme on wordpress.com and theres was fine…. any help?
Yoke, I’m not sure what you meant by “black box down the center.” Your blog seems to be behaving normal. It just might have been a glitch.
I realy like Black-Letterhead, can you convert this theme for blogspot?
Please check my blog and what do you think?
Sorry for my bad english
Kyuutaro, I have no experience with blogspot. So, I don’t see the theme being ported to blogspot.
I just installed blackletterhead on powerage and am lovin’ it.
I even made a matching footer image.
Thanx-a-ton!!
John
looks good. i like your header and footer.
Thank you very much!
Nice work…
Hi! I am using your theme. It’s so nice
Btw, I just want to ask if I can edit the font colors? Thank you and more power. <3
