USA Soccer Still Has No Coach
USA Soccer still has no coach. Well, that’s not true. Bob Bradley is currently the interim coach. USSF (US Soccer Federation) said they will make a decision by end of May. It’s May 11th and US soccer fans are getting antsy. At least, I am. You figured after Bob Bradley has had a successful start by posting 3 victories and 1 tie against Denmark, Mexico, Ecuador and Guatemala that he should be given the job. That’s not the case. We are still waiting for the biggest announcement about US Soccer in months or the biggest letdown.
It would be a big news if a new European or South American coach is hired. It will be a letdown if Bob Bradley is named head coach. I meant that in a good way. I said letdown because all the anticipation will be for naught. All the anticipation for nothing. I think Bradley will do a decent job for the US team. It remains to be seen how he will fair in the future especially with this summer’s tournament, the Gold Cup and Copa America.
I just wished they had named a head coach a long time ago. Whether it be Bradley or someone else. Just save the drama for the players on the soccer pitch.

I hear Bob Bradley has now got the job on a permanent basis.
I always thought the U.S. (or at least the U.S. media reports) were aiming too high in some of their targets.
I though Klinsmann would take the job because he has made America his home. But when he dropped out, trying to attract Gerard Houllier and Carlos Quieroz was always a long shot.
Quieroz was unlikely to leave Manchester United for anyone, let alone an average international football team. And Houllier is hot property. He will be snapped up by a biggish European club this summer.
Bradley now has to win the Gold Cup and not get embarassed at the Copa America.

I went over to bigsoccer.com to check out the rumor mill. That’s all they have been talking about. I hear Sunil will make the big announcement tomorrow. Naming a US coach other than Bradley would have been a complete surprise, but this is what a lot of people have expected. I’m still not sold on Bradley’s two defensive midfield formation, although his son Michael looks to be a great player. I agree with you, Bradley better win the Gold Cup and have a decent showing at Copa America. Nice site.
