U.S. wins Algarve Cup for fifth time

US Womens National Team

Awesome. And I thought the rest of the world were catching up to our ladies on the soccer pitch. No, no, no. Not if we have Superwoman Kristine Lilly playing. Lilly has over 320 caps to her credit for the US Womens National Team. Who’s counting anyways? My goodness. I can’t fathom that statistic. She scores, too. Lilly scored her 119th goal for the U.S. Well, she needs to score a few more to overcome Mia’s 158, but she is Superwoman, so anything is possible.

Who in the world is Carli Lloyd? She scores 4 goals in the tournament and wins the Algarve Cup MVP. Previously, she had just 1 goal on 24 appearances for the U.S. I guess when you’re hot, you’re hot. Carli kicked the ball so hard, it made one her socks disappear. All the more reason to be chosen MVP. Great job, Carli.

Then, there’s Natasha Kai. When you’re a 5′8 Hawaiian forward with tatoos and red fingernails, you’ll get noticed, too. She doesn’t have her own Wiki yet, but if she keeps getting minutes for the U.S. National Team, it’s only a matter of time before she’ll get wikified.

Now, if we could only get the men’s team to win a tournament. Haha. Let’s start this summer, boys. Gold Cup and Copa America. I can’t wait.
