My husband and I have been trying to explain to friends/family, that your chances of winning do not increase or decrease depending on the number of players. We have tried to explain that there are only a certain number of “possibilities” for each number, regardless of the tickets bought. Is this correct or are we mistaken. Your help would sure be appreciated!
Thanks,

Jan,
Yes, you are correct. The odds are based on the number of numbers and its probability. The only effect players have is the prize of the jackpot. With more players, the higher the jackpot, but it still the same odds.
If you buy 20 tickets, do you increase your chances? Compare that to if you just bought 1 ticket. Is 20 to 176 million better than 1 in 176 million? I would imagine so. But, it’s in negligible in my opinion even if you bought 100 tickets. Just my 0.02 cents.
