Clark Kent Returns
Returns from what? The movies or from his five year hiatus. What could Superman be doing in the space of five years? Who knows! Anyways, Superman returns to earth and gets his job back. Not even the internet has affected the Daily Planet operations. Superman finds out Lois Lane is living with a fiance, the nephew of the editor. She also has a young son. The movie later reveals that Superman is the dad (oops, a spoiler), albeit a deadbeat one who shirked on responsibility while flying around searching for his roots in the shattered planet of Krypton.
Ok, give him a break, he doesn’t really know he has a son. He’ll soon find out. So, I guess Superman has to pay child support now. Brandon Routh eerily looks like Christopher Reeve. He even sounds like him. Lois Lane is played by Kate Bosworth, a Pulitzer Price winner, but for some reason, she doesn’t know how to spell the word “catastrophic.” Give me a break. Superman is such a smooth operator. He flies Lois Lane above Metropolis yet again and wins her heart back. Note to self: take a girl out flying above Metropolis. Lois Lane realizes the relationship will not work and supresses her feelings for Superman.
Lex Luthor is played brilliantly by Kevin Spacey. He is back to his usual bad deeds trying to build continent in the middle of the Atlantic. He is still in the real estate business, but nobody has told him the real estate business is cold at the moment. Some critics are even comparing Superman to a Christ-like figure. Just listen to the words of Jar-el, Superman’s biological father. “I have sent them you, my only son” while Superman hangs suspended in space with his arms out like Jesus on the cross. I always have problems why people can’t recognized Superman with his glasses on. Beats me.
Go check out the movie anyways. It’s was worth the $6 dollars I paid for them - I saw it in a matinee. If you get a chance, see it in an IMAX. There are supposedly 3-D scenes interspersed in the movie.
