Laptop Blues

I have been getting this hardware problem with my laptop this past two weeks. I mentioned it before here. It usually happens when I move my laptop around on the table or just walking around with it.

Last weekend, I have completely wiped out the old OS and restored the factory settings on my Fujitsu laptop. So, I have completely eliminated the driver or software issues which I thought for a moment was the crux of the problem.

Last night, I made some experiments. I decided to take out the memory and the hard drive to do some investigating to what is causing this I/O hardware problem. The connection for both devices seemed to be ok.

Then, I did the flex the unit test. Only then, I realized I can reproduced the problem by flexing the corner where the hard drive resides. This is not good.

I’m still perplexed to what is happening, but at least I have the problem pinpointed to either the hard drive or the board in that corner of the latop.

I will do so more testing and get to the bottom of this. This I/O issue is beginning to annoy me since the computer crashes and I have to close the lid of the laptop each time to get the BIOS to boot up.

Well, apparently I didn’t search high enough. As it turns out, I read in this forum that several people have had the same issue. [...]
