Wireless USB Network Adapter
I found a Wireless USB Network Adapter at Fry’s Electronics for just $10.00. So, I bought two of them. It’s from a company called Airlink. The adapter operates on USB 2.0 specification and works in both 802.11 b and g networks.
The low budget unit comes with a price because the adapter was difficult to install. Windows XP didn’t recognized the network adapter initially. I had to install drivers manually for Windows XP to recognize it. I also had to reboot twice. That was not enough.
It took me a while to configure the driver to work with my access point router. Several months ago, I turned off the SSID broadcast on my router for security measures. I had to turn it back on to get the network adapter to connect to my router.
Anyways, it works great now that. Not bad for $10.00. You can’t beat the price, but it takes quite a bit to get it to work on my laptop.
