Pacquiao Wins
I actually didn’t see the boxing match, so I couldn’t comment on it. But, scores of people watched it via Pay-Per-View. My brother whom at the moment is in the Philippines texted me last night and said he watched it at a movie theatre with friends and family.
Manny Pacquiao avenges an “unanimous decision” loss to Morales 10 months ago. The win will most likely demand a third bout. Morales took home $2.75 million while Pacquiao’s take home is $2 million dollars. Nice chump change. The bout was not a title match and was held in Las Vegas.
Speaking of making money. The movie theatres made some nice profit by charging boxing fans 300 50 pesos each (roughly a dollar $6 dollars), which is the current price for admission to a movie. Not a bad profit for one night considering the match was being broadcast in Philippine TV for free.
I guess that’s the price you pay for seeing it in the big screen and the opportunity to slap high fives with people you don’t know from Adam. It must have been one rowdy and crazy theatre. If I were there, I would have gone and watch it in the big silver screen as well. No question about it.
One more thing! Jaime, why did you bet against Pacquiao? Hmmm. Hehe. I thought I saw this one coming since Pacquaio lost the first bout. Another loss by Pacquaio would have diminished the upcoming third fight. But, that is how it is. Hindsight is always 50-50.
It will be impossible to predict who will win the third bout. If I were a betting man, then I’ll bet the farm on Pacquiao. It’s a good thing I don’t own a farm.
