Google Desktop

I downloaded and installed Google Desktop the other day. I’ve heard so much about it, but never got around to doing it. I was curious more than anything to see what the hype is all about. The install was quick and pain free. After a couple of hours, the Desktop was able to index 95% of my system. Now, I can use the Google Desktop to search my computer for any file or content just like the online counterpart.

After several minutes of playing around with the Desktop, I was quite impressed with what the search engine can do. For some fear of the unknown, I didn’t turn on the Advanced Feature. Google says, “other non-personal usage data and crash reports may be sent to Google to improve Desktop.” Well, not so fast, buddy! It’s probably ok, but you never know what kind of data these guys are collecting.
