Playing Around with Duke

I just installed a test website on WordPress 2.0, the latest release known as “Duke” by its developers. This release was named after jazz composer Duke Ellington. True to its word, the installation was well within the 5 minute install developers were touting. I had no issues with the installation at all whatsoever.

I was also glad to know the “Cleansheet” theme I created and currently using at the moment works with WordPress 2.0. I had to create a snapshot image of the theme in order to work nicely with the new Admin Panel. I still haven’t tested some of the plugins I am currently using such as Adhesive, Theme Switcher and StatTraq.

Most of the changes of 2.0 is under the engine. I’m still feeling my way around the Admin Panel. A few times I had to look for familiar buttons that now have moved to another location within the page. I heard there are some issues with trackbacks. Otherwise, the new version looks the same, unless you look under the hood.

I still don’t feel comfortable upgrading this blog to 2.0, but I plan to upgrade a smaller blog to do a few upgrade runs.
