The US Men’s Soccer Team lost to Mexico 2-1 today in Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The World Cup qualifying game is in its final stages. Six teams teams are left vying for the top 3 spots to represent North America and the Caribbean region for the World Cup 2006 in Germany. A 4th team might qualify to the World Cup if it beats a team from Asia.

For the Mexican fans, the win was HUGE because the US have been beating them the last few games including elimination from the World Cup 3 years ago. To the Americans, the game was not much of a big deal. It’s just another game to the qualifying process. The next game for the Americans will be next Wednesday against Guatemala in Birmingham, Alabama.
