Inauguration 2005
How much will be spent on the inauguration of President George Walker Bush? How about $40 million big ones which include a parade, nine inaugural balls, candlelight dinners for major donors, a youth concert, prayer breakfast, pyrotechnics and of course the swearing in of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
$25 million dollars come from contributions by a 100 or so companies. $1.7 million will be spent on the ceremony itself courtesy of the taxpayers. Close to half, $17 million will be spent on security. Prior to 9/11, the costliest inauguration was former President Clinton’s first term in Januray 1993 for $33 million which included 15 inaugural balls.
