Monday Night Uproar
What’s the bruhaha about what happened during Monday Night Football? Apparently, ABC Sports showed a skit between Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens and Desperate Housewives’ Nicolette Sheridan.
The ad showed Sheridan’s bare back while embraced with the fully uniformed Owens. The ad caused an uproar all over the country and now ABC might be facing fines from the FCC for running the supposedly racy ad.
My first reaction after seeing the commercial was, “What’s the big deal?” I have seen worst situations like that on TV. I think Americans have this paranoia about censorship. The FCC wants to cocoon Americans to protect them from moral degradation. I think that’s a little too late for that.
Some may argue that kids should be protected from this sort of display on TV especially during prime time. It is true that a great number of kids watch TV during prime time, but give me a break. The stuff they learn outside of the home, in the playgrounds, and in schools pales in comparison to what happened on Monday Night. So, lighten up. I think its way too overblown.
On the lighter side, Little Richard said that Terrell Owens is having a great season because he hasn’t been covered all season until when Nicollette Sheridan threw herself at Owens.
