Linux vs Windows

For several years, prognosticators have been predicting whether Linux will overtake Microsoft’s dominance of the operating systems market. Quite a contrary, Linux’s impact has been slow and minimal and I predict Linux’s market share will gain slowly against the Windows operating system.

Let me explain. Microsoft’s strength is clearly entreched in corporate America. Big companies are reluctant to migrate to Linux due to many reasons. Linux’s market share is focused at hosting companies and small to medium companies. I see these two operating systems competing with each other for years to come.

Linux has one advantage over Windows in that is that is much more stable and secure than the Windows operating systems. Microsoft has to improve its flagship product’s stability and security to avoid losing anymore market share. Microsoft’s advantage is that there’s a lot more software written and supported in the Windows environment than Linux.
