Paradise Lost

I am sure millions of Americans on the verge of retirement have thought about moving to a warm weather state such as Florida, New Mexico and Arizona. I have friends who have visited the United States mention to me that if there’s a state they want to live in, it would be Florida.

I have been to Florida myself. It is truly a tropical paradise along with its warm climate, palm trees and beautiful beaches, but there is a price to pay if you live in Florida. Hurricanes are a common appearance in the sunshine state every year.

Much like Californians have to contend with earthquakes, Floridians have to accept the fact that hurricanes are part of risks you have to take when you take up residence in the sunshine state. Every state has its plus and minuses.

If I had to make a choice between a hurricane and an earthquake, I don’t know what to pick since both events can be catastrophic. We hope and pray, it doesn’t happen in our lifetime.
