TV Soccer
What sucks about US TV programming is, there is not enough soccer on TV. Even the big tournaments such as Euro 2004 are exclusive on pay-per-view only for a measly $250 for the entire package. Ridiculous! What a shame!
I spent 5 months in the Philippines, a non-soccer country (Filipinos love their basketball). I’ve seen more games there than here in the US. And for the US to be ranked #7 in the world, you can’t even find a decent soccer game to watch on TV. This is sad.
Soccer will never be a mainline sport here if it has to compete with football, baseball, basketball and hockey. In the meantime, I have to scour the TV listings for soccer games. ESPN at least televises the MLS and US National Teams games and maybe the big Euro tournaments.
Other than that, you have to watch games on the Spanish channels. Entiende Espanol? You better learn fast if you like to understand the commentary, but then again maybe you’re just happy to see some soccer action on TV.
