My New Laptop
I recently bought a spanking new laptop from Frys Electronics, a Fujitsu Model S6200. I love it. It’s light, fast, and the 13.3 inch screen is unbelievably clear. It’s using the Crystal View XGA display technology.
It also has great features such as built-in wireless netword card, a 10/100Mb network card, and 56kb modem port (which I’ll never use), 512 MB RAM, a 60GB hard drive, DVD+RW, 6 hours of battery life since it built around the Intel Centrino chipset.
The Centrino chip offers 1MB of L2 cache which gives the laptop desktop-like performance. The laptop is pre-loaded with Windows XP Home Edition and comes Microsoft Works, Norton Anti-virus 2004 and Quicken 2004.
I have installed XAMMP which contains Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl, PhpMyAdmin suite of programs. Now, I can program in PHP and see immediate results on my laptop without uploading my scripts to the server. I’ll use it as my new development box instead of my Linux server.
I haven’t tried any games yet. I’m expecting to install several games such as Madden 2004, Kelly Slater Surfing, Fifa 2004, SimCity 2004 and my favorite game, the Medal of Honor series. Click here to see more laptop information from the Fujitsu website.
