Comdex Cancelled

The Comdex show held annually in November in Las Vegas has been cancelled this year due to low attendee registration. Consumers have shifted their focus to CES, or Computer Electronic Show which has gained prominence over the years.

The once popular Comdex show attracted 200,000 people to Las Vegas in November 2000 resulting in $255 million dollars in non-gaming revenue. Last year, only 50,000 people attended Comdex resulting in only 70 million of non-gaming revenue.

Media Intl, the producer of the show has setup an advisory board with companies such as Microsoft, AMD, Oracle, Cisco, Samsung and Borland in an effort to revive the show. Las Vegas will really feel the sting in November. Look for bargains in the upcoming months while Las Vegas will try to entice people to fill the empty hotel rooms.
