Protecting Your PC
It seems to me the best strategy to avoid getting viruses, adware and spyware programs these days is to avoid going online or to avoid using email altogether. This of course, is not an option since most of us need the internet for various reasons or another and we all use email to communicate to each other.
The best action in fighting computer viruses, adware and spyware program is to invest in a security software that will filter, protect and secure your personal computer. There are many products available out there. Check out my recommendations at end of this article.
Viruses were once spread via email usually by downloading a file. Nowadays, merely browsing the internet can potentially result in crippling your system. This is due to a fact that viruses now are sophisticated, resistant to virus software and are easily acquired by browsing the web, once considered a harmless activity.
In addition to this pesty virus problem, there are other programs out there that are equally harmful. Adwares are annoying pop-ups that usually advertise or promote products when using your browser. Some pop-ups can’t be blocked even if you use blocker programs from Yahoo or Google.
Spywares are programs that gather or steals information from your computer. Data is sent back to the software’s author for marketing purposes. The worst scenario is, spyware can be used to potentially steal credit card information.
To protect your computer, I recommend the following software programs. Try using Ad-aware from Lavasoft to fight adware and spyware. To combat viruses, try Norton Internet Security from Symantic Corporation.
Lavasoft provides free and commercial versions of Ad-aware, while Symantec products are all commercial, but are worth the money considering the hassle if you acquire a virus.
