German Football in Trouble?
Germany just recently lost 2-0 to Hungary in their final tuneup game in preparation for Euro 2004 which starts June 12 in Portugal. The Germans still feeling groggy from a recent drumming by Romania of a score of 5-1, lost again to a Hungarian team that is ranked 68th in the world FIFA rankings.
Germany looks unimaginative in offense and disorganized on defense. It doesn’t get any easier from here. Germany will play the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Latvia in Group D to start the Euro tournament. Don’t count the Germans out.
They seem to play their best games in big tournaments, but then again this is a team that has failed to impress and is clearly in decline in recent years.
