Linux Upgrade Started
I’m in the process of reinstalling Linux Mandrake on my box. It currently runs on Mandrake Linux 9.2. I plan to install the latest Mandrake Linux 10.0. Why reinstall instead of upgrade?
An upgrade is not possible since I plan to free up another 2 gigs of disk space in another partition on a multi-boot environment. A reinstall of the latest Mandrake version is the cleanest and best solution.
I plan to allocate most of the 2 gigs of disk space to the /var directory where my web directory is located. To make the upgrade smooth, careful planning and ample backups are required to make sure applications are restored successfully on the new environment.
Backups were completed last night. The major work will begin tonight. Wish me luck!
