Giants Relief Pitching
So, it looks like the Giants relief pitching has settled down. It seems like Matt Herges has stepped up as the designated stopper in place of Rob Nenn. Its amazing how the complexion of a team can change in just a few games.
A few games ago, the Giants didn’t seem like the team who’ve won the National League West last year. The Giants struggled by dropping the first two games against the Padres in San Diego. The Giants avoided a sweep by coming back in dramatic fashion in the 8th inning on the getaway game on Sunday.
Three games later, the Giants won three in a row. Thanks to, of course, Mr. Bonds who went deep hitting homerun number 660 and 661 in back to back games. Talking about a player who can change the complexion of a game quickly.
After three games, the Giants look like a completely different team. Which brings up another observation of mine in the new season. Are the Padres really for real? Or did they just played well on their new ballpark.
Seven games into the new season, I have a feeling it is going to be a Giants-Padres duel for the National League West title. The Diamondbacks are not having a good start, neither is Colorado. The Dodgers started hot, but now have gone cold.
Who knows? I know the season just barely started and there is plenty of baseball left. Just make this my early season prediction for now.
