Womens World Cup

Soccer is one of my passions. I’ve played the game since I was a kid. I also followed numerous professional teams over the years. In two weeks, the Women’s World Cup will begin. It was originally set for China during the summer, but the SARS problem several months ago, FIFA decided to move the games to the United States in late September.

As expected, the US National team is favored to win it all, although the Brazilian national team just recently made soccer headlines. Brazil has included in their women’s roster the wife of the famous Brazilian soccer player, Ronaldo. The Brazilian authorities said it will be good for the team. It will be good publicity of the Brazilian Women’s National Team.

My first reaction was can she play soccer? Then I thought, it may not be a bad idea after all. Whatever works to get support. Then, I thought maybe other teams should consider the same thing.

Maybe, the US squad can include the likes of Britney Spears, Cameroon Diaz, and the Olsen twins. And maybe, Britney can take the last penalty kick of the World Cup final. Keep that shirt down, Britney. Hmmm. Oh, just me dreaming again. I’ll let April Heinrichs, the coach of the US National Team decide who she wants on her team.

I think she has already decided. No Britney, no Cameroon, no twins. Too bad. It would have been a great World Cup.
